Engineering stories. preserving history.
My high school history teacher helped me understand that my affinity for history and storytelling is why I love creating music. Recorded sound is the capture of a specific moment in time, and we have incredible tools to shape how a listener perceives it. Through engineering, I can be a part of a story bigger than myself. Belmont’s audio engineering program has prepared me to work in studio environments and established my understanding of signal flow to allow me to work on any console/system I come across. Presently, I am strengthening my tracking and mixing skills by working with local clients to bring their ideas to life.
I’m a firm believer that vintage equipment can and should be maintained, for the sake of the environment and the preservation of history. It all started when I told my Dad I wanted an electric guitar, and instead of taking me to Guitar Center, my Dad gifted me a ‘build-your-own-guitar’ kit and encouraged me to learn how to solder, insisting that those skills would set me apart from my peers. While I was resistant to believe him, I uncovered an unexpected passion of mine and continued sought ways to strengthen those skills at Belmont. I interned at Ocean Way Nashville under Travis Moore, assisting with the maintenance of campus studios and gaining real life, hands-on experience. I love the spontaneity of the craft and the pressure to constantly learn new things. Presently, I am an Assistant Audio Technician at Ocean Way Nashville and do freelance repairs.
