I am so thankful to be the mixing engineer on Sad Camper’s debut single, Roadkill !!! During my last semester at Belmont I took Master Mixing Techniques and part of our midterm was to pick up one of the Master Production student’s projects and provide a mix that would be sent to mastering. I was fortunate enough to receive @joesetlak and @sam.swaine project with Sad Camper, and I am so proud of the final product! My favorite mixing technique I used on this track was parallel processing the vocals with the little radiator plugin from @soundtoys . It added the grit I was looking for and blended Hales’ and Jol’s voice together really well! I was trying to emulate some of the grit on Indigo De Souza’s vocals on “I Love My Mom” and I think I got pretty close! It’s so interesting to look back at my work from the middle of the semester and compare it with mixes from my final. There are small things I would change about the mix (which there’s always something) but I’m learning how to be ok with that and recognizing that every mixing engineer feels that way! So glad this is out in the world and so immensely proud of my buddies in @sadcamper.jpeg :)
